Trust Update – Joining Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust

The Governing Body of Mount Stewart Federation previously consulted on a proposal for Mount Stewart Infant and Junior Schools to join Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust, a partnership that includes Claremont High School and Sudbury Primary School.

Following a full and inclusive consultation process, we are pleased to confirm that we have now received an Academy Order from the Department for Education (DfE) to join Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust.

This is a significant milestone and reflects the confidence in our shared vision for delivering high-quality education, strengthening leadership capacity, and increasing collaboration across schools.

What happens next?

We are now working closely with the Trust and the DfE to complete the formal conversion process. We are currently awaiting confirmation of the official transfer date, which we anticipate will be in September 2026, subject to the completion of all statutory and legal requirements.

We will continue to keep our community updated as soon as further details are confirmed.

What this means for our school community

Joining Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust will:

  • Strengthen opportunities for collaboration and shared expertise across schools
  • Enhance leadership development and staff progression opportunities
  • Provide access to wider professional development and training
  • Support continued school improvement and high standards of education
  • Maintain each school’s individual identity and ethos, while benefiting from being part of a strong and supportive trust

Reassurance for parents and prospective staff

  • There will be no disruption to pupils’ day-to-day school experience
  • Our staff team will remain in place, continuing to deliver high-quality teaching and care
  • The school will retain its values, culture, and commitment to the local community
  • Staff joining the school will benefit from enhanced career development opportunities across the Trust
