Trips & Residentials
Fostering Character Education and Holistic Growth at Mount Stewart
At our school, we recognise the immense value of nurturing our pupils' broader experiences, cultural understanding, character development, and sense of adventure. Our commitment to this holistic growth is reflected in our dynamic programme of trips and outings designed to connect pupils with the wider world.
Our students have the opportunity to explore museums and art galleries, enriching their cultural and artistic awareness. We engage them in charitable community projects, fostering a sense of social responsibility and empathy. Nature and adventure are integral to our curriculum, with field trips and orienteering adventures allowing pupils to experience the natural world firsthand.
An integral component of our program is our structured residential trips, each tailored to different year groups and designed to enhance independence and broaden worldviews. Starting with a school sleepover in Year 2, we progressively build up to more adventurous experiences: a visit to Brent's Gordon Brown outdoor centre in Year 3, a Bushcraft Camping experience in Year 4, a PGL water sports activity in Weymouth for Year 5, and culminating in a transformative residential trip to France for Year 6. These trips are more than just excursions; they are pivotal experiences that contribute significantly to our pupils' personal growth and independence.
Through these diverse and carefully planned activities, we aim to equip our pupils with academic knowledge and the character, cultural capital, and resilience needed to navigate and contribute positively to the world around them.
