SAFER RECRUITMENT POLICY STATEMENT FOR MOUNT STEWART FEDERATION

Mount Stewart Federation, places utmost importance on the safety and welfare of children within the educational environment. We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this unwavering commitment.

We understand that safeguarding children can be fully achieved only by setting the highest standards for recruitment, coupled with effective inter-agency collaboration, and by fostering a workforce that is both competent and genuinely invested in the roles they fulfil.

The Mount Stewart Federation strives for a diverse and inclusive workforce, comprising individuals from varied backgrounds who bring distinct skills and perspectives to their roles. We are determined to ensure that our recruitment and selection processes are thorough, consistent, and equitable, and foster equality of opportunity.

We rigorously adhere to statutory guidance from the Department for Education, namely ‘Keeping children safe in education’, and to the principles outlined in Safer Recruitment guidance. We apply all necessary measures in vetting candidates who will be perceived by our students as safe and trustworthy adults and maintain the expectation that all our staff consistently act in the best interest of the children.

Mount Stewart Federation and the broader Brent Schools are committed to the safety and welfare of all our students. As such, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Furthermore, for individuals who have resided or worked overseas for a substantial period, an overseas check may be required.

Our detailed Safeguarding Policy is an essential part of every candidate pack and is available for review here: MSF Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
