Autumn 2: This half term year two are exploring the concepts of Respect and Sustainability answering the key question "Who is responsible for our future?"
Our key text this term will be "One World" by Michael Foreman. We will be using this text to investigate how humans can affect their surroundings. We will be sequencing the story, looking at how to write descriptive sentences and also how to write persuasive letters.
In Maths we will continue to explore place value and will use this to help us to add and subtract larger numbers mentally and using written methods. We will also be problem solving in a variety of contexts.
In Geography we will be learning about the continents of our world and also the oceans. We will be using maps and atlases as well as investigating how humans affect the planet we live on.
We will be investigating how water is central to faith in many religions looking at the concepts of purity and cleansing.
We will continue to investigate the properties of Everyday Materials and how some products do not break down when they are thrown away.
We will design and create a sea creature using recyclable items.
The children will be learning how to program a simple program by creating a plan, using simple algorithms and debugging their programs.
