The Mount Stewart Schools

The Queen's Jubilee Celebrations 2022

Brent North MP, Barry Gardiner, visited Mount Stewart Primary Schools to join their Platinum Jubilee outdoor concert celebrations.

To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Mount Stewart Primary Schools organised a Platinum Jubilee outdoor concert to help their pupils celebrate this unique occasion. They kindly invited Barry to join them on this special day. The morning started with a whole school outdoor concert, where each year group, from Nursery to Year 6, performed a song to mark the occasion. To close the concert Barry spoke about the Queen and her role as the defender of our democracy and how special the Queen was for being on the throne for 70 years, with 2022 marking her 70th year as monarch.

Following Barry’s visit, the Interim Headteacher of Mount Stewart Primary School, Sally Newing, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Barry back to Mount Stewart; the children thoroughly enjoyed his visit. They got to perform their special songs related to the school 7Rs, which encompass our learning behaviours at school. The children were elated when he spoke to the whole school and chatted warmly with the staff and children enjoying a fabulous Platinum Jubilee outdoor concert.”

After participating in the school’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Barry commented: “Thank you to everyone at Mount Stewart Primary School you were AMAZING.”
